OUTPUT OPTIONS

Use the forms on this screen to customize the type of output you want to receive from a MARC Global or MARC Review run.

There are four possible forms that can be displayed (by clicking on the the tabs along the top): Text Output, Text Export, MARC Output, Global Change. The Text Output and Text Export forms allow you to customize reports for a MARC Review run. The MARC Output and Global Change forms allow you to customize the file processing and logging for a MARC Global run. MARC Output is also available for a MARC Review run.

The default values on all of these forms are customizable using the MARC Global options.

MARC OUTPUT

MARC Output is the default for a MARC Global run. But MARC Review results can also be directed to a MARC file, making it easy for you to create files and subsets from your database that can be loaded or imported by any software that supports the USMARC standard (including, of course, MARC Report).

There are four MARC output options available.

None: Select 'None' if you only want to count the number of matching records.

Matching records only: If selected, only records that matched the pattern specified will be written to MARC file. Records that do not match will be ignored. In MARC Global, this option applies to 'Changed records only'.

Split: If selected, this option will split the MARC source file into two new files. One file will contain all of the records that matched your pattern, and the other file will contain all of the records that did not match your pattern. In MARC Global, the file will be split into records that were changed, and records that were not changed. In either case, the combination of the two files created by a 'Split' will exactly match the MARC file that you started with.

Output all records: If selected, all records will be output to the filename entered in the 'Matching Records' box below (whether they match or not; or, in the case of MARC Global, whether the records are changed or not).

MARC File Names

Use these edit boxes to enter the filename(s) to use for your MARC results.

In MARC Review, matching records are saved by default to a file called 'matched.mrc'. In MARC Global, changed records are saved by default to a file called 'changed.mrc'.

If using the 'Split' option: In MARC Review, non-matching records are saved by default to a file called 'notmatched.mrc'. In MARC Global, changed that are not records are saved by default to a file called 'unchanged.mrc'.

In all cases, the default directory for these files is the same directory as your MARC source file. Click on the FIle Cabinet icon to use the Windows Save dialog to change the directory and filename.
