Learn about: AAP Checkboxes

Quick Steps

If you need to add any elements to the default elements that are used to construct an Authorized Access Point (AAP) or Composite Key (CK) for an entity:

  • click the appropriate AAP/CK checkbox to turn on or off inclusion of your chosen element in the AAP/CK that is constructed (note that you cannot turn off a default, mandatory element for the AAP/CK)
  • doubleclick the AAP/CK text box to effect the change

You cannot change the contents of the Authorized Access Point text box–you must use the AAP Flag boxes to generate the change.

Detailed Steps

The composition of an Authorized Access Point is driven by the particular RDA instructions for the Entity involved:

  • Work:
    • 6.27.1 Authorized Access Point Representing a Work
    • 6.27.1.9 Additions to Access Points Representing Works
  • Expression:
    • 6.27.3 Authorized Access Point Representing an Expression
  • Person:
    • 9.19.1 Authorized Access Point Representing a Person
    • 9.19.1.2 Additions to Access Point Representing a Person
  • Family:
    • 10.11.1 Authorized Access Point Representing a Family
    • 10.11.1.2 Additions to Access Point Representing a Family
  • Corporate Body:
    • 11.13.1 Authorized Access Point Representing a Corporate Body
    • 11.13.1.2 Additions to Access Point Representing a Corporate Body

In order to meet the specified requirements for constructing an appropriate Authorized Access Point (AAP) for one of these entities, you must change the elements provided in the AAP by using the AAP check box for the element:

  • click the appropriate AAP/CK checkbox to turn on or off your chosen element
  • doubleclick the AAP/CK text box to effect the change
